He came at me like a torpedo plane
« on: April 23, 2005, 10:34:47 AM »
Straight on, face to face, at eye level.
I wasn't afraid.  I was armed and ready.
Suddenly, he pulled up just 30" from my face and hovered, glaring at me.
Up came the Single Six, cocked, and taking aim.
I couldn't miss.  I didn't.  He died bravely, instantly, and in pieces!   8)
Yep, 'got my first carpenter bee of the season!  :)
'Saw another later, but he wouldn't get clear of my gutters.  :(    :D

I'm looking forward to some "bee skeet" at the range soon!  Never considered carrying my "Bee Blaster" while doing yardwork.   :-)

I had one fly so close to my bald head this morning that I felt the wind from its wings.  Mat have to get me a Single Six so I can play too.

What is the ideal barrel length for Bee Skeet?

For shame, for shame. If you guys keep shooting all the bees who's gonna pollinate my blueberries?

Honeybees are safe - we just don't like those little carpenters chewing up our range!   :)

Actually bumblebees and maybe ???? their look alike buddies the carpenter bees are the best polinators for blueberries along with the tiny bees some call blueberry bees but as a boy I called sweat bees. Still when I'm sitting on the front porch and any of them just won't leave me along the fly swatter teaches them manners.  :)

Sounds like you could use a single action fly swatter!

I live in town, and can't shoot bee skeet.  I have a woodchuck problem, however, and have live trapped 5 of the garden eating slab undermining critters in the past couple weeks.  But the big old one is to smart.  I don't have a .22 pistol repeater that I can shoot shorts out of.  I want a back up shot with that little critter.  I may just have to get me a revolver...

:cb2: Hey Keith,

Try the Aguila .22 Colibri rounds. No powder, just the primer in the rim. Sounds like a loud cap pistol in a handgun, but out of a rifle it just goes ppphhtttt! Have a neighbor who was fed up with the squirels tearing up his bird feeders. He would shoot down on them from a second story bedroom. The squirrel problem is history. Told another friend in Ft. Worth about it, and he got rid of his rabbit problem (except he went outside at night). Both live well within the city limits. Bet they'll work on your woodchucks! And it's more fun than trapping them!

Thanks.  I will try and get some.  I trapped the last of them on Monday, but I know they will be back.  It took almost three weeks to get all six.  I could have done it in a day or so if I could have used a pistol.  I still want a single six.  Looks like the thicket for chuck hunting as well as the bee skeet.
