Giraffe leg bone… the price was either 375 or 425… I don’t remember exactly.

I passed on the grips but I saw a set of Ivory grips on the Kirkpatrick leather website last night for $405. They looked great but way out of my price range.

:cb2: Just yesterday, on some website, somewhere, I saw advertised grips made from 20,000 (?) year old mastodon ivory. (SA only.) I did not click on it, and now I wish I had. I have no idea how much they cost. Has anyone else seen this and know where it was?

Hey Griz,

I’m looking to have a set of Mammoth made for a gun of mine. The best I have found, Mammoth Ivory stocks run around 85-90% the price of Ivory. The cool thing about this stuff is that Mammoth Ivory will have a large variety of colors to choose from depending on the soil type where the ivory was found. I haven’t seen a piece large enough for SA grips but Mammoth tooth is some pretty neat stuff too.

You can see several examples of grips made from Mammoth tooth or Ivory on Ebay.

Be Safe,
Scott

:cb2: I sure wish I could remember where I saw it. I thought the price would be astronomical. Now I just want to see 'em!

:cb2: OK, found it! Gary Reeder Custom Guns. Mastadon ivory grips, $1000. Look under "Services." It's between the elephant ivory ($500), and the Mongolian stag ($250).

Can't recall ever spending more than the retail cost of a set of Pachmayr's for a S&W or TC on grips in my life.

Elephant ivory set for my new S/W657-5PC $478.00 fitted and shipped both ways. Looking for a set for my SBHH maybe blue Mastodon . I’ve  gotten various high-end walnut for different guns over the years that I ended up not liking that went with the trade at no cost.  I trade a lot. :-)

I paid $399 for stag grips but there was a Super Blackhawk that came with them.  :?

I am interested in a pair of Elk stag grips from Eagle and they are in the $100 + range.

I haven't paid much for grips, but I made a set of Bison Horn grips for my SBH stainless and matching stainless Old Army.  I have also carved a set of Elk antler grips for my Single Action Army.
