Glock clips
« on: July 06, 2006, 12:45:36 AM »
I got a "great deal" on a magazine for my Glock 19.  When I got to the range I found out two things.  It is a 10 round magazine (the rest of mine are 15), not a deal breaker, and the cap on the bottom end has a rounded knob on one side that prevents the magazine from being fully inserted into the well.  My guess is this somehow was part of the modification for the Brady bill (but it seems backward).

Can anyone tell me what I have?  And can it be modified at low cost to make this still a good deal?  I payed $6.00 for the clip.

Thanks in advance for the help.

With new full capacity Glock factory mags available for $20 or less, I'd stay away from aftermarket magazines. Use the 10 rounder as a "Barney" mag, it's at least good for that!

It is a factory mag and was in factory packaging.  I would like to use it but the sliding part on the bottom of the mag prevents it from fully fitting into my pistol.

I'm having trouble understanding what the "sliding part" is---------Unless it's a sleeve to adapt the magazine for use in a Mdl 26. If so, it's removable. The mdl 17/19 mags will work in the mdl 26, and some persons put a sleeve on the mag to extend the grip length on the compact Glocks. This would prevent a mdl 19 mag from being inserted in your 19.

I think I would call it a floorplate.  Where do I get one and how much do they cost.  I have all of $7.00 in a ten shot clip, and don't want to spend much more.  As you pointed out I could (and have) buy a 15 rouind for $20.

Thanks,

At local gunshows in my area we usually have Glock representive with about all the factory parts you might need. I can't see a floorplate costing more than a couple bucks. Or, you could order what you need from Lone Wolff or Glockmeister. Hope you find what you need-----------

Hey there Keith...If you do go to a gun show looking for parts be sure to refer to the magazine as just that...Some people get upset when you call a magazine a clip...Seems petty but some people are just that way.

I have wasted money in the past buying cheap aftermarket mags for some of my guns.  No More!  You will do well to go with factory mags in great condition, rather than cheap knock-offs, especially when you are carrying the piece for sef-defense.

Once again, it is a Glock factory mag, a ten shot instead of a 15 shot.  And it has a different floorplate.  But thanks.

Keith,
Have you found what you need to make it work in your pistol?

No, but I haven't taken the time to go to a gunshow either.  I have six 15 round mags, and bought this one because it was such a good deal (?).  I will check out a gun show in the next few weeks and if a new floorplate is cheap enough then I will get one.  If not then I guess I will take it as a life lesson.

I signed up last night for the NRA Personal Protection class.  I took the basic pistol class a few months ago.  Since then I bought my Glock 19 and have put about 5,000 rounds through it.  Now for the next class.  I am looking forward to this class.  Maybe some day I will be a good shot with a pistol.

I know what I have now.  I took day one of the NRA Personal Protection in the Home class today and the instructor was explaining that the latest model Glocks have a raised bump on the front bottom of the magazine to make it simple to strip from the gun.  Models in Europe can't eject when the button is pushed and have to be manually removed.  My son's Glock 22 and all his clips have the bump, but my four 15 round clips don't and my pistol's magazine well is not made for it.  Mystery solved.

This class is highly informative, and I am already a better shooter for having taken just the first day.  I can hardly wait for tomorrow.
