Encore pistol barrel question - need advice
« on: July 25, 2005, 03:18:08 AM »
question for you pro's out there ....
Just ran into an opportunity for a great deal on a Encore 450 Marlin
15 inch barrel with muzzle break (brand new in the box) for $100.
I am a little reluctant right now - thinking  the recoil on this will be fierce.
Anyone have any experience with a 450 in 15 inch barrel ?

For $100 buy it and try it. If you don't like it you should easily get your money back out of it.  As a matter of fact if you get it and don't like it or decide to pass I'd be interested in it.
Just another worthless opinion!!

Hi
It is loud and it recoils BUT it can be reloaded into a pussy cat. Get a reloading manual and load it for a trapdoor 45-70. Makes it fun to play with, then load it up for hunting.
Good luck

Mind you I don't own one but a buddy has a 45/70 which is the same thing and it ain't bad at all.
That brings to mind, why would they make a  Encore barrel in 450 Marlin when the 45/70 is the same thing? I know some may say they're not but the only reason they made the 450 was so you wouldn't use a fullhouse loaded 45/70 in and older firearm that can't take the pressures.
Now I do own a 45/70 Marlin  lever gun and I've loaded some rounds for that baby that I wouldn't shoot out of a Contender. Guess I answered my own question huh?
