has anyone used the 26" 209x45 barrel to take a (some) deer or other big game?

How did it preform?

I have powerbelts in 195 Grain, AeroTip & 225 Grain, Hollow Point
I also have T/C 155 gr xtp

I have yet to shoot this barrel, I think I will be starting out with 100 gr of goex black powder or maybe 100 gr of pyrodex RS

I got one for my son. He is shooting the 195 gr. Barnes Expanders over 100 gr. of triple7 and a 25ACP priming system. It shoots 1 1/2 in groups at 100 yards with this load. My son took two deer last season with it and the set up. Both one shot kills.

I could not get any of the powerbelts to shoot well out of it.

I didnt know barns had bullets for the 45, I will have to check them out

I have had two 45's from t/c and niether one of them were worth a da&&. Wouldn't shoot a group for anything. STAY AWAY FROM THEM AND DON'T WAIST YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY

I know several people that have them besides me, and they all like the ones they have. Not one problem with 4 other 45 cal owners.

Well I guess that depends on what you want. If hitting somewhere on a eight inch paper plate maybe @ 100 yds is exceptable then I guess you wont have anything to worry about.

Well my 45 Cal Encore M/L shoots 1 1/2 inch groups at 100 yards. Sure beats your 8 inch paper plate. Just because you personally have a problem with your particular 45 Cal M/L, does not make all of them bad. :roll:

My 45 had the 1-20 twist. It shot 6" groups. I returned it to T/C for evaluation. They returned it with a note that I should use their 180 gr. bullet and 3-pellets for 1 1/2" accuracy. I tried the load but the groups were no better. I sent it back again and asked for a replacement barrel. They sent another 1-20 twist with a note to shoot their 155 gr. bullet with 2 pellets for 1" accuracy. I tried the new barrel and load and got between 4" and 6" groups. Again I sent it back and asked for a 1-28 barrel. I got the same 1-20 back again.

I called T/C and explained that I wanted a 1-28 barrel and really did not want to waste money trying the old barrel again. I was given a name to send the barrel to at the repair shop. Soon I had my 1-28 barrel. I shot it and it grouped 2 1/2". Not the 1" they advertise. I put it into the gun rack and forgot about it. Months passed and I read an article about lapping the barrel with JB paste on a patched brush. Being an old benchrest shooter it didn't sound right but I tried it. The article said to use 100 strokes changing the patch every 15 passes. I lapped it 45 passes. I shot three groups with 100 gr. T7 2F and the 200 gr. Hornady bullet. All were in 1".

Encouraged I bought a .280 Remington and a .204 barrel. Both group under 1/2" at 100 yds.

Tom they did me the same way with my 45. I finally told them that I just wanted a 50 cal. and they sent me one. I also had a 300 win mag that did the same way.

I have a 45 cal encore with the 1-20 barrel, I also sent it back to TC with letter stating I wanted the 1-28 barrel and what kind of problems I was having, they sent my same barrel back and said it would shoot 1-1/2" groups at 100yds with 100gr pyrodex and ?TC bullets, I have not tried it and I called them back and complained about there poor work, the 1-20 barrel will shoot some nice groups but they are very picky, my gun had to have a oversize hinge pin before I could get any groups at all, this is very important but TC will tell you that it does not make any difference, sorry for long message.

I am just starting out with a T/C Encore .45 also. Have found that mine dose not like light bullets, it dose like 200 gr sabots though. With 145gr of pyrodex and 200 gr T/C Shockwaves it produces a single hole at 25 yards. The only problem is how difficult it is to load, Shockwaves fit very tight in the bore. Haven't bothered going out further yet as I am experimenting with diffrent powders/projectiles still.
