Duplex Reticle for Target Shooting
« on: May 22, 2005, 03:59:12 AM »
I am particularly interested in the reticle in the Bushnell Elite 4200 8x32x40. I think Bushnell calls it the Dual x or Multi x. Anyway it is a Duplex type reticle and it seems like it would be too heavy for target. I would like to hear from anyone that has one of these scopes.------Thanks vernonp

Vernonp;

Boy is this forum slow.  I usually don't stop by this one but I saw your posting and you deserve some kind of reply.

I have shot the Bushnell 3200 with duplex reticle.  I shoot silhouette and most silhouette shooters seem to shoot dot reticles.  When I bought my Anschutz it came with a dot reticle so I had an opportunity to compare.  For silhouette shooting I believe the dot is better.  It's small than the target and so it's easy to see against the target.

That gun and scope (Weaver T24) came from a benchrest shooter so I assume that some benchresters like the dot reticles.  I find the duplex is more distracting for taget shooting but easier to see for hunting.

That's my $.02.

I have a couple of duplex type reticles, a Weaver  4x12 and a Tasco 6x18.
I have shot others as well, but am not too thrilled with them.  For range or competitive purposes I think the cross wires are a bit too thick since much of the shooting is with .224s" whick make some pretty small holes.  Just one mans opinion.  Best wishes.
