I haaaave a Savage 11G in .223...I would like to use it on bigger game also.
   I read in another forum, that I can get a barrel in another caliber and with the proper wrench, install the new barrel in my rifle..
  I presume go-no-go guages would also be necessary..
 
   Can this be done.. and where would I get the wrench and guages ?

It can be done however if the "larger caliber" doesn't share the same bolt face as the .223 (most likely) you may have to change that as well. I believe I've seen the Savage barrel wrench in the Brownell's catalog.

Sharp Shooter Supply  419-695-3179 has your bolt heads, wrenchs etc. also does prefit barrels is a Savage "specialist" so to speak. pre threaded and chambered barrels are available now from many major barrel makers, Douglas, Pac-Nor, etc etc,  I rec SSS for the change over parts particulary if your not up on this as they will advise and make sure you don't end up with a late model pin and early model bolt head or vise-versa.
