Just my opinion ,but both are good just depends on who you ask. I own a .204 and have killed over 100 groundhogs and 2yotes. I shot 1 hog at 525yds and my second yote at 415yds the first yote was 308yds. Killing power it does not lack. Both the .204 and 250 are close in accuracy and the 250 has more "killing power" but not enough to concern me. The 204 is flatter and that is comparing a .204 zeroed at 200yds and a 250 at 250yds. Both zeroed at 250yds really makes the .204 shine. Not to forget that the .204 is faster and watching whistle pigs come apart in the scope is very cool. I shoot the 40 v-max and wouldn't trade my .204 for anything. I actually have put the .243 in the closet and strictly hunt with the .204. For me it just works awesome.

WOW. I'm gone for a week bear hunting in Ontario and you guys are here bickering without me!  Kind of missed it.  Hey look at that Woodchuck, a guy who shoots 40s in a 204!!! And you said they don't exist.

This is funny.  It seems to me like guys arguing about a .270 vs. a 300 Win Mag., on a much smaller scale :D .

I'm just waiting for my 223 to show up.

so woodchuck hunter-

I think I figured out why the 22-250 is a better round, and this is why according to your posts:

The 204 is more resistant to wind drift
The 204 has a much flatter trajectory
The 204 is faster
The 204 has a higher ballistic coefficient
The 204 has more lbs of energy than the 250 with comparable bullets (unless you use a 55 gr. 22 cal. bullet)
The 204 has a better barrel life

It all makes perfect sense- the 22-250 must be much better.

I have several of both the 204 and 250- I know what they are both capable of.  If I am out to lay the smack down on the coyotes I will use one of my 250's with a 55 gr. bullet, but my favorite coyote gun is my 204 with handloaded 39 gr blitzking bullets, becuase It shoots much better and has all the power.

You have probably never shot the 204, so you are biased of the 250.

The 250 is a GREAT round, and I am not dissing the round, but you are not being fair to the 204.  It all depends on what you are going to shoot at, and what you want to happen when you hit it.

In conclusion, the 204 is a superior round BALLISTICLLY.

Wrong........ and please re-read all my reply's before suggesting words that I wrote.

BTW - "Dissing" ? As in "cutting down" ?  Like what my high school age son says ?........Interesting

yeah well, I am in the same age bracket as your son, and I still think that I have more rational opionions than yourself.

And as far as reading your posts, they are so long and boring, I almost fall asleep.

Im with you IowaBuck.  I have given up on having a civil discussion with the chucker. Blah blah blah.  I haven't read his recent posts but I could probably recreate them verbatim.
