Front Rest Position

I've been watching the posts and have read about some of the new acquisitions some folks have made and how they have been shooting. The new acquisitions I'm referring to have been fitted with bipods and they shoot very accurately. Some of the bipods appear to be located at the fore-stock screw and some at the sling swivel. This begs the question: how is it that some Handi's shoot well from a bipod and others MUST be supported at the hinge pin? Is it because they have a stronger latch spring or are there other reasons?

Like has been said before, each rifle is an individual and may have different requirements for accurate shooting. For some it makes no difference where the front rest is placed, but in general from reading about and owning several firearms with 2 piece stocks, some can be finicky at best in how and where they are supported. My .223 Ultra Varmint will shoot less than ½moa from a bipod, but when I put the .243 barrel on the same frame which has been factory fitted, it won't shoot from the same bipod worth a hoot, but shoots great from the hinge rest which the .223 barrel also does.
