Ultra Scope Rail
« on: August 07, 2005, 01:08:51 AM »
Just got my .270 Ultracomp barrel back Friday, I asked for the Ultra scope rail. It has an allen head screw that looks like it goes through the mount and rests on top of the barrel. My original barrel did not have this. (SB-2 .223 heavy barrel) It also has 2 lock screws that go through the sides to lock the set screw. I recieved nothing telling me how to set this properly. Any info on it? And by the way, I shipped it, and recieved it back in 12 days, fit is excellent, can't wait to shoot it.   Thanks.

Fisherman:

Congrats on the new Ultra-Comp..:D

Set the screw so you have about .0015" gap between the barrel and screw...if you don't have a feeler gauge set...use a buisness card....You don't want to run it all the way down snug against the barrel...the rail is for those large objective scopes to keep it from flexing a-lot... As far as ammo goes...if your buying factory ammo...give the new Federal Fusion a try...it worked wonders in my 30-06 Ultra-Comp...
