Hevy Shot/same material for casting bullets?
« on: February 28, 2003, 06:51:10 PM »
I am not exactly sure what this new stuff is, but I read a report that said it is more dense than lead, that for Turkey loads you could use #6 with as much downrange energy as #4 shot, but with more shot in your pattern.  So...my question...has anybody tried this material for cast bullets?  Heard anything about it for bullets?
....make it count

Robert,

This stuff is Tungsten, Nickel and Iron and thus, harder than steel shot is.  What this would mean to us is that unless they could come up with a jacket of some softer material-like copper or something, it would wear out our barrels in a hurry.

Otherwise, a great idea as the environmentalists wouldn't have a problem with it.
