The old brit does it again, No4Mk1 range report
« on: September 26, 2005, 05:02:47 PM »
I posted a run up to this on the bolt gun forum and thought you fellas would like to see it.

I shot this group yesterday and all I can say is "Baby it'll blow your mind."

The rifle is a heavly sportreized No4Mk1 Fajen stock miled off charger bridge , williams sights home made scope mount ect.

The load is a 150 gr hornady spire point over 45.0grs of BL-C2 in a winchester case and a cci200 primer lighting the mix. Velocity is 2630 fps

Sweet Shooter!!!! I passed one of these sporters up with the orginal stock cut the same way for $75 I did a dumb thing and regret it to this day.

I think besides the old timers hunting with 30-30's the 303 britt and 35 remington were very popular many years ago too.  I can remember my uncle having an old 303 too.

Krochus - mighty nice group.  Were you shooting the .311 or .312 diameter bullet???  I have found the most accurate loads in my 303 are the 180 (.311) gn bullet over 43.7 of Norma 203 for 2540'/sec, or 41.7 of N140 (VihtaVuori Oy) powder for the same velocity.

When I use the Hornaday 174 gn .312 bullet my groups shrink to 3/4" at 100m.

BTW - your No4 Mk1 is prettier than mine (sniff).  Mikey.
