I have been thinking about getting a pair of Monarch atb 10x42.I saw them at Dick's and was impressed.Does anyone have these and what are the opinions (good or bad).I know they are not $1100 binoculars but for just glasssing and hunting.I wear glasses and they are not a problem with seeing through them with glasses on.thanks for the feedback all

Encorerookie,
The Nikon Monarch are a great pair of binoculars. In my opinion, they are one of the best buys for quality pair of binoculars out there.

I wouldn't buy them from Dick's. Otherwise, as Jon has said they are a good value in a roof prism binoculars. About $100 more gets you into a noticable improvement.

The Nikons are good glass. IMO you'll be happier with the 8x42 binocular. If you take a 8x42 and stack it on a 10x42 of equal quality and alternate looking through them you'll choose the 8x42. 2x more magnification isn't much gain and the clarity will be on the 8x binocular's side. I use a 7x42 binocular and I'm very pleased wih it. Granted I don't use them much over 300 yards but I don't need to.

My personal opinion is that the Monarch binos do not do justice to the Monarch name. I believe the Bushnell Legends to be better all the way around in that price range.
