Plastic protectors / holders #11

Guys, I have a cheapo inline, that I was thinking of converting from #11 to 209. Shoots great with #11, but it is a hassle to worry about the cap falling off. Do the plastic #11 protectors do a good job of holding the cap in place. I hate to screw with a system that shoots well. Can I expect the same fast ignition?

Just buy a good nipple and the cap will never fall off. I have Whites, Knights, Thompsons and NEVER had a cap fall off. Most times I have a heck of a time taking the cap off after a hunt, but with a T/C de-capper it's no sweat. The metric nipples are usually a bit undersized from the factory.

Yes, the protectors work great, just be sure to push them all the way down on the nipple to seal the cap to the nipple and they will not come off until you take them off.  I used them on my .54 Renegade and FireHawk in the 90's and they worked for me.  The only caps I ever had to fall off were the Remington #11 caps, but if you pinched them they held on better.

If your nipple is undersized even the protectors may come off.  The first ting to do is replace the nipple.  If for some reason you can not replace the nipple you may want to try #10 caps.

I always use them on my revolver because it throws caps when it recoils.  I agree replace the nipple first, but in my case I did and the new nipples were as bad.  I haven't found #10 caps where I don't have to pay an obscene shipping fee.
Be warned that you will have problems with quick reloading if you use the plastic sealers.  I have to pry mine off with a knife.

If it's not broke don't try to fix it. If you get good accuracy, stay with what works. JMHO.  :D
