Need to extend a barrel
« on: August 13, 2005, 05:04:52 AM »
A friend showed me a shotgun he has had for 40+ years which is unique.  It is an old Remington model 10 in a riot configuration and a 17.5 inch barrel.  These guns were last made in 1929 before the 18 inch law came into effect in 1934.  So my question is can a barrel be extended with say a compensator to make the extra length and be legal?  The gun is in good shootable shape.

AZ, If memory serves me correctly this is what is done on some of the shorty barreled AR-15s to make them legal but I'd check the gun regs to be 110% sure. Something else to consider is that even if the compensator makes it legal, it would likely have a real negative impact on its value as a collectible.
