Can a Pardner .410 shoot a .45 colt (standard pressure)?
« on: August 08, 2005, 02:27:39 PM »
safely??  Not the "+P" or nearly .454 loads, just standard .45 colt - cowboy type loads?   And on this subject, how can all these .410 *bore* guns shoot a bullet that measures .451 (with .45 colt)?   Seems like you're about 4/100ths too small - quite a lot - I suspect that the .410 bore is more than .410 in reality, no?

Also, what kind of price should I expect to pay for a used .410 NEF?  Ol' boy at the gunshow this weekend wanted $100 even for a used, but very good condition one (bordering on excellent), private sale too - probably should have bought it.

OK, what is the survivor exactly  - how is it different from the Tamer which I see on the website?  I'm still new to Handis.... thanks!

Oops, didn't see it, thanks!  That's perfect.  I guess cuz I was looking  under shotguns instead of under rifles.  But do yas *have* to get snotty?   :)  Is the choke system proprietary or standardized to some "big 3" maker (rem/win/moss)?  And how bad will the rifling screw up your shotgun pattern?  Oh, man I just love that thing, with the extra compartments and all - that is too sweet.  It absolutely would HAVE to be cut to 16.25" however, and a new front bead put in, for the ultimate backpack gun - so much for the choke tubes though if I did that...  What do those retail for - that thing just went to the top of my list (oddly enough, since I don't backpack.  :) )  And in any event, does anyone know the actual diameter of a .410 bore shotgun - I don't have one here to measure - would it be around .451-.452 like the groove-to-groove on a .45 colt?  Just curious...

So can any of you Handi-holics answer my questions please if you know, particularly:

1.  On the .410/.45 colt survivor, does the screw-in choke work this way:  When shooting .45 colt, you simply leave the choke out, but screw it in when shooting shotgun, which imparts a nice pattern to the shot?  Or does it work another way which I'm not contemplating?

2.  What would happen if you shoot .45 colt with the choke screwed in?  Bad mojo/too tight, OR no biggie/just a little bit o' smoothbore before exiting?

3.  What is the screw-in choke amount - impr, mod, full, what?
Or multiple?  If only comes with one choke, then does it or does it not standardize with some other major maker's choke tubes for .410?

4.  Would it handle +Pish .45 colt loads?
Thanks!
