If you buy one make sure its aluminum. The hammer on the Encore is skellitonized underneath and prone to bending and breaking with a hammer extension. Especially the heavy calibers. I haven't broken one but I did bend one on a 444 marlin pistol. There have been several posts here about breakage.   KN

Funny thing about Encore hammer extensions!

TC doesn't recommend using them, but then, they do make them, or at least have them for sale!

I used one for a while and started having misfires once in a while, so I took it off and went to medium height scope rings!

I got one from Belim (sp)... it was a disappointment.  There's enough room under medium rings to fit your thumb.

Thanks guys, bought a stainless encore for a Canada black bear hunt in Oct.  Since i'M from Florida, I thought I might need gloves.  Between that and the rain I thought it might be a good idea.  Thanks again.
