Laminate or synthetic
« on: August 15, 2005, 09:14:36 PM »
I'm ready to purchase my first handi.  I want the 270, but I'm debating between the Stainless Synthetic and the Ultra Laminate.  Any opinions would be appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

Welcome aboard!! :D  Both!!! I know that doesn't help much, though....You can get the laminated stock set later for $104...if you change your mind....

Like quick said, or you can buy the Synthetic and pick up a Ultra Varmint in a 22Mag with the same nice laminated for just a little more. You can change the stock out at will and ,assuming you would have bought the laminates latter on, get a 22Mag for around $50.

...........And welcome to the site

That sounds like a really great idea, cept Sports South doesn't have any .22mag Ultras and hasn't for quite some time, to the dismay of many who are looking to buy em. :(

Perhaps we should compile a list of the ones they don't have and take a pole as to how many are waiting on their rifle. I think H&R/NEF needs to expand. Obviously they are having a hard time keeping up with product demand. Hopefully our friend Miss Lynch is getting somewhere with them.
It would be nice to have an update.

What we need is a link to H&R's inventory, but since they don't even keep their web site current, that probably wouldn't fly!!  :?

I like Myarmor's idea. But Quick is right. I've ben wanting one for awhile but everytime i check they are out of stock. I think the stainless and the laminate look great together. I would get the synthetic now and add the lams. later. Good caliber choice also.

O and welcome aboard.

Go with synthetic.  I just changed from laminate to the synthetic and wow what a difference, way lighter than my laminate stock.  I ordered from Choate machine and tool and I am impressed.  About $3 more than NEF but I ordered them on Saturday night (like 10pm) and they showed up UPS today  .  On the max handi, fired, and I was :-D    :) . Now need my new bullets to try and work up my yote Brush load.  110 grn hollow point at about 2100fps.

By the way nice stocks quick.
I must be crazy.

Check the FAQs, Sports South's link is listed in a post by Mac11700 about 2/3rds down the page.
