Boys, I have a question on balls, basic stuff

I have only one C&B pistol, a 1851 confederate cabellas, Pieta.  fun gun, I use it as my second pistol for cowboy action.  I came across a lot of balls for sale and snapped them up.  In the lot came a quantity of .44o and .443 balls which I will not use as they do not shave in the cylinder in fact they drop in.  My question is this - are there .44 cals that they fit or more properly, what do these fit?  Are they for a .45 rifle and you use them with a cloth wrap/wad? I use .495 balls in my .50cal with a pre lubed cloth wrap/wad.  Thanks for any info.  I wnat to sell these off to buy more powder.

That's correct.  0.440" and 0.443" balls are for use with patches in .45 caliber muzzleloaders.

There are no true ".44" muzzle loading pistols.  It's one of the great mysteries why so-called .44 revolvers use bullets larger than .45 caliber diameter.

Someone once wrote that it was a US Government procurement specification that the revolvers would be so-and-so many lead balls to the pound.  It's been following us ever since!
