No.1 257 Roberts.....

Hi Folks, I'm new to the small bore arena and have been checking out the threads here for a few days.
Anyway, I was in a local shop a few weeks ago and picked up one of the Lipsey's LE #1 in 257 and had to have it, so it's in layaway waiting on the rest of the funds to retrieve it.
I've always liked the #1's style but never felt a single shot was worth that kind of money. I've always been a lever and single action guy with a few DA's and Bolt guns thrown in for a good mix all in big bore.
I have been reloading for a few years, but only straight walled cartridges, haven't tried bottleneck's yet.
Back to the topic at hand.
What kind of advice can ya'll give me on loading for the 257 in a #1?

I haven't reloaded for a #1, but something you might consider, since it is a single shot, and cartridge OAL is not impacted by magazine considerations, would be to get a Stoney Point OAL gauge and play around with seating depth.  I have loaded some .257 for my Model 77 longer than standard, and it seemed to help the accuracy a bit.

I gather this is a Ruger #1, right?
If so you have a tremendously strong action on your hands and can quite easily to the outer limits of your brass strength.
You need to get .257 Roberts +P brass to do it but the performance should be quite astounding.
Keepin mind that in a #1 45-70 can be loaded almost to 458 Win Mag specs so the possibilities for the Roberts are equally exciting.
