OMEGA OR SIDEKICK?

I just recently got into inlines so I've done a bit of research on em'.  While the Sidekick is a good rifle one thing that I didn't care for were the primer holders. I'd rather have something that doesn't need replacing. I ended up with a Marlin MLS-50(for my grandson) and a CVA Optima(for me).  On thing that I liked about the Optima was the stock design, it felt like a Sutzen style target rifle. Also, you put the 209 primer into the breach plug without the need for any extra parts/primer carriers.  The Marlin uses a more or less standard nipple with a #11 cap so it's really simple.   I generally like to keep things as simple as posible, I think it's a good rule of thumb to follow.  Anyway, I don't know if this has been any help or not.  Just do a bit of research and check out some of the web forums and I'm sure you'll come up with the right answer.  In Frith.

I tend to agree with TN Frank about the primer carriers. I have never liked the Knight rifles for that reason. I do not hunt underwater so I don't think I need that amount of waterproofing. For your original question you are asking about apples and oranges. The Omega (which I have one of) is quite a bit out of the price range of the Sidekick. I also have a Traditions Pursuit which is in the same price range of the Sidekick and I understand they have fixed the terrible trigger that came with mine. It does not use a carrier either although it is a Spanish barrel if that means much to you. There is a possibility that the Sidekick might be a contender for  the .25ACP conversion which gets rid of the plastic carrier and allows a wider selection of primer power and composition. I put one on my Omega and love it for function and the ease of handling the brass over the 209 primers. Good luck with your decision.

I haven't shot mu Omega yet, put the 25 acp conversion in it. Like my Tradations Pursuit LT, accuracy about 2-3" without scope.

I have an Omega - never had a problem. I've had three CVA rifles and had nothing but problems with all of them. All three were returned after the first range visit. Don't bother contacting CVA for help. They don't care about your problems. CVA products are crap. There's a reason why they are so cheap. You will get what you pay for.
