"Herter's" Binoculars?
« on: August 19, 2005, 01:10:04 PM »
For a number of years Dad used "Herter's" binoculars.  A few days ago he gave them to me.  I was wondering if anyone knew anything about them.  They appear to be made very well.  There marked 8x40  7.5degrees coated entirely hand ground optics.  Herter's Since 1893  Worlds Finest Quality hand made binoculars.  Serial No. 166xxx.
I don't think Herter's made them, I believe they farmed out a lot of products and put their label on them.  I know that they are still selling "decoys", being marketed thru Cabela's.  Any Ideas?
