I searched this form front to back and seen nothing on this cat.

I've found some good starting data on the 22-243Middlested.

I'm looking to extend my range on my 204Ruger with this cat and I should be able to easily.

My goal is to get a very accurate 55gr pill running in the mid 4200fps range.
I've found reamers and dies not allot of luck with data just of yet. Worse comes to worse I'll use the Middlested data for a starting point.

Anyone using this cat?
Info on this would be nice.
Experience would be very nice.
Comments always welcome.

You can reach your goal with the standard .243 Winchester and a long barrel - a custom barrel and chamber will give equal accuracy to a big .22. The .243" 55-grain Ballistic Tip has a higher BC than the .224" version, so launched at the same 4100-4200 fps you can get equal-to-better performance than with a large-case .224" wildcat. I get 4144 fps in my M77 with 26" barrel and safe 55-grain loads; the .243 is cheaper to build and to load for (even .243 BR dies are less than most custom wildcat dies) with lots of tested data, plus it gives you the ability to use heavier bullets later if desired. It isn't as sexy as a true wildcat - but it is a lot easier for essentially the same performance.

I would have to agree with the above poster. Big cased .22's like that are fine for pushing big, heavy 80 to 90 grain bullets for long range work but are kind of wasted with the lighter stuff. About the biggest .22 I'd want to build would be a 22-250 AI or a swift. Launching light bullets much faster than those two is too much of a tradeoff in bad B.C. so they slow down quick, short barrel life, touchy reloading pressure wise, and lots of blast and recoil. All things to think about before investing in building one.

Dies $72.45.
Reamer rental $ 25
Go/ No go gage $5.00

So my cost to make this project happen minuses the rifle is under $150(I'm adding the shipping cost of the reamer to and from and the dies)

There would be 0 costs saving in the brass because both projects would take 243 brass.

That is the main reason why I was considering the 22-243 Imp.

I'm looking at buying a Target Grey® M77 Mark II Target in 22-250 and reaming out the chamber. The rifle is set up to run 55gr pills with a 26" tube.

You are correct on the BC being better on the 243 but it takes a different barrel to get a 243 to shoot the light 55gr. bullets worth a dam.

This rig would be for varmints only so the 243 being a multi use is throw out.

Barrel life would be short but how short?
I dont abuse my rifles (shoot them HOT) so what would be the life of the barrel?
4-5000k rounds?

1500 is what i heard when i was looking into it. and that was taking care of it
