unfortunately the TPWD web site has not yet updated the online hunting annual.  It sure sounds like things have changed considerably in one of the counies that I hunt.  Not sure I understand exactly what is a legal buck.  Hopefully the annual will be out soon.

I found the new regs the other day on the TPWD website, it wasn't in the updated annual form but in a bulletin sort of deal.  In Lee County where I do most of my hunting, they have dropped the 6 point or better on one side quantifier, but the other two remain.  Also, there is a two buck bag limit of which one has to be a spike, this means I can shoot two spikes now!!!

If I am understanding what I am reading, I can now shoot 2 bucks, as long as one has a spike on one side and whatever on the other side, or has atleast a 13" inside spread?  But still a doe or two only in the archery season.

"The new regulation implements a two-buck bag limit, one of which must have at least one unbranched antler, and redefines a legal buck as a buck having an inside spread of 13 inches or greater or at least one unbranched antler".

So if I shoot a spike buck, the next buck can't be a spike or semi spike, but does have to have a 13" or better inside spread?  Is that correct?

If I'm reading it correctly for my part of the State, you can take a buck, say in Parker County, and a buck in Jack County.  Last year, it was West Zone and East Zone, but this year, its one buck in the county and one buck in the other county.  Is this the way you are reading it?

the way it reads is that you can take a buck in a "one buck county", and then take another buck in a different "one buck" county.  Makes sense, so i am glad to see some of the changes...

The way I understand, in Lee County and the other counties with the same special regs, you will be able to shoot two bucks of which at least "one" must be a spike, I think you can shoot two spikes if you want.  You can still only shoot does during archery season.
