How much is 405 Win ammo?
« on: August 24, 2005, 05:27:32 PM »
Quick
I was just at a gun shop about 20 miles from home, had to go there for powder, and saw a bunch of 405 ammo.  I thought of you and meant to ask how much.  Got distracted and forgot, sorry.

If you let me know how much you pay I'll check with him in a day or two. (going out of town, Las Vegas, for two days) and see what his price is.

I have never seen anyone stock that before.  Of COURSE he had no 280 ammo!

The only load I'm aware of is Hornady at $29 a box....CDNN has is for $20 a box.....I did buy 2 boxes for the brass since no one has any and Hornady "thinks" they will be making a run of brass next week, but they weren't sure!!  I'm all set now, won't be shooting it enough to need more than 40 rounds, have 39 rounds loaded up in .5gr and .2gr increments to 1 grain over max for the 400gr woodleigh using the 350gr X bullet. I had Wayne cut the chamber for that bullet so it oughta shoot good.

Thanks for thinking of me.

I'm pretty sure Winchester still make 405 ammo.  almost certain I saw it marked for $25 or so a box at a local shop.

If they do, they don't show it on their web site, they haven't made any 405 Win ammo since the 1960s.
