Which laser range finder???
« on: August 26, 2005, 10:39:16 AM »
I am looking to purchase a laser range finder for a muzzleloader hunt this year in iowa. I dont know i really need , my max shot is going to be 200 yds and under. I am shooting a heavy conical so i need it to be accurate in distance. I would like a range finder that is easy to use and do i need one with different modes. What optical power is the best. Need help in selecting a range finder i will not be disappointed in.

I have the Bushnell 800.  The max range on them is 1,000 yards, which is way more than what I need, although I must say that it is kinda fun to guess the distance of a particular object, and then use the 1,000 yard-capable range finder to find out.

Truth be told, for shots under 200 yards or so, you really don't need a rangefinder.  As such, given that I hardly ever take shots over 200 yards anyway, then that would mean that I don't need a laser rangefinder.  Still, for whatever it's worth, I like having them and just knowing the distance.

I bought my 800s about 3 years ago for about $275 or so.  I agree that the 450s at $150 should be great for what you need.

Zachary, I use the 450 for bow hunting, they are small and easy to pack. But I also have a Bushnell 1000 for when I go to Alaska or other places and it is a 4X.  :D
