.32 Pedersoli - first day at the range
« on: August 29, 2005, 06:15:15 AM »
I have a pair of the Frontiers, one flint one cap.

Had the cap out yesterday, started with a .315 ball and .010" patch, 30 grs fffg.

At 50 yards 3 shot groups were about 3" with blown patches.

Tried again with .015" patches, groups shrunk to 1 1/2", with patches less shredded. Two shots of each group were quite close, touching in some cases.

Tried a .31 cal. Ox-Yoke felt wad between powder and .015" patch, much better patches, and the group about the same.

This is a fun rifle, the sights are dead on, and I'm looking forward to shrinking the group some more. I don't know that I'll shoot at a squirrel at 50 yards or not, but if I miss, it won't be the rifle's fault.

Time to try the flint version...............

I remember being disappointed the first time I tried my .32 after years of shooting a .54.  I just couldn't get the darn thing to clover leaf!  Then I realized the holes in the paper were just smaller, though center-to-center the groups were just as good!

Try a heavier patch and a smaller ball.
