Author Topic: Fed up with these doggone contraptions!!! Stuck casings!!! (Read 422 times)

OK, I tried pollishing the chamber as per the sticky above and it has not done ANYTHING to help with the stuck casings on my NEF 7mm-08.

First off, the gun will eject the first casing shot and then NONE after that. Also, it will eject unfired bullets all day long. So, what is happening here?!?!? This is factory Winchester ammo.

I called NEF and they said to ship it back and they would fix it. What would they do? Pollish it?

I called local gunsmiths and the cost is around $30 for pollishing the bore and test firing. So, should I send it back to NEF or should I have a local gunsmith do it? How much is shipping on a gun?

OK, more questions. I'd like to know what I did wrong:

I cleaned the gun as noted in the sticky FAQ. I used a bore mop with a metal polish and attached the mop to a drill. I ran it for around 5-6 minutes or so. It apparently didn't work. Do you recommend using fine grit sandpaper as well? Please give me some more pointers.

When I did my 223 UV, the ONLY one that has never stuck a case, I used a fired round and put the polish (actually JB's bore paste) on the outside of it. I ran a screw through the primer hole and chucked it in a drill.

I didn't use a lot of force but I DID apply some paste and pressure to the neck and shoulder area also. Some say that is a no-no but I get dimesized groups with mine, so I figure I made out OK.

I did all that before ever firing a shot through it. Also make sure the ejector has been de-burred and cleaned.

I know it's a bit of a pain but if it saves a few weeks wait plus shipping it's worth it.

Also make sure there is no lube or anything else on the casing or chamber. Quite a bit diff than a bolt gun!!!!

Thanks for the heads-up. I called CS at HR and they said I definately need to send it back to them. They will reimburse me for the shipping charges. They said it should only take a week or so. Let's hope so, the season starts in just two months!!!

I appreciate the heads up about customer service paying for shipping.
