I have a Vetterli mod. 78, could any of you tell me what cal. it is?.  My book says it is a 10.4x38Rmm is this the same as a  (41 swiss) ?.  Thank you.         Dwayne

Yes, it indeed is the .41 Swiss rimfire cartridge.

Factory ammunition for this caliber hasn't been made since the 1940's.

Some shooters convert the rifles to centerfire (relatively easy and cheap to do), and then handload ammunition made from shortened, fireformed .348 Winchester cases and custom cast bullets.

Thanks John.  I found a site that was selling winchester ammo for over $18 a pc, I have some original swiss marked loads, Haven't been able to find what they are worth, any idea.?

Try www.cartridcollectors.org and go to the forum section.  Many knowledgeable collectors there that can give you value for your Swiss .41 rimfire cartridges.
