Arisaka Safety Problem
« on: February 22, 2003, 09:29:49 AM »
I need the wisdom of some of you on this board.  I installed a Timney trigger on my Type 38 Arisaka, and now the safety won't work.  It appears to me that the new trigger lets the striker go a bit further forward in the cocked position than the original did, so I thought that filing a bit off the rear of the bump on the shaft of the safety that compresses the spring would do the trick.  I've filed quite a bit and also releived other places so this part can go further forward - still no success.  Anyone out there who can help me?

Thanks.

Ask the folks at Timney.  Their liability now in question.

I emailed back and forth with them several times regarding how much of the sear slot to file away to get the thing installed and they were very helpful.  Once the trigger was installed, though, and I asked them about this problem with the safety they never responded.  Guess I'll try again.
Thanks.
