I want to install a bi-pod on my 12 Encore.
Do I have to tap and install a swivel or is there
a part to replace th existing screw that secures
the foreend ?

Uncle Mikes makes a replacement stud for the screw in a Contender forend.  I use this in both pistol and rifle for sling and bipod mounting.  Not knowing if the screw is the same size I will guess that one is available for the Encore as well.

On my Contender I replace the forearm screw with a swivel stud & a spacer. My Contender also uses a Pachmayr forearm. This works excellent to attach a Harris bench rest bipod.
In my experience the swivel stud will not handle a heavy recoiling caliber like a 44 mag. The stud will bend.

Hope this helps.
