Family member in New Orleans - HE'S SAFE AND SOUND!!!!
« on: August 31, 2005, 10:21:10 AM »
I just got off the phone with my Dad in Pensacola.  I have a 1st Cousin who lives in New Orleans that is missing.  His name is Mike Sexton.  He has been working and living there for many years.

He was working for a veteranarian in town and decided to stay and care for the animals.  No one has heard from him since the storm hit.

Prayers please ....
:D

Please try to stay hopeful. They have a major communications problem there right now according to the media, and it could be quite a while before anyone there is able to call out to let folks know that they're alright. My prayers are with him and all the thousands of victims along the gulf.

Just got off the phone with my mom in Pensacola - my cousin called in early this morning and he is safe and sound.  His home is dry and he is staying there to assist in the recovery efforts.

THANK YOU to each of you for your prayers and thoughts.

Tacshooter - A special thank you for your offer to help with your contacts.  I did pass on the message and tried to call you myself.
Next time I'm there, beer is on me  :D

Prayers were answered. Yes indeed.

I know this site is here for us to talk about favorite passtime, but I can't and I know a lot of you can't help but be concerned about the suffering that is going on in that area right now. Looks like the recovery in the gulf will take many months. Right now looking at the pics on the TV is very distressing. There are a lot of people there that need our help and the only way I can help right now is to send a donation and continue to pray for the victims.

MtJerry.
I am glad to hear that your loved ones are ok. God bless them.
Fred

The repercussions of this disaster is hardly imaginable. The suffering of the people is unprecedented.

20 oil platforms have been wiped out. 25% of the the oil production in the US is laid still for at least 6 month.

A revetment has been breeched and ocean water is pouring in unstopable and the gap is getting bigger with each day. To plug a breech like that is on major undertaken with monster sheet-pile drivers working from both sided at the same time to build a cover dam. The logistics are just mind bogling.

Why is god so unmerciful? Or what? I am so far away from this dreadful destruction it is aching my heart. Prayers will help but intensive action by anyone that can help is needed.

This may raddle some cages BUT I bet about 180,000 US service men and women could do a lot more good right here at home right now

The Power of Prayer is Immeaseurable.  Thank the Lord he is not one of the other numbers.  There will be many.
This is going to take years to recover from, if ever, completely.  I'm thankful for those that need help that he is willing (and able) to help.

I'm also glad our troops are keeping the fight away from here, that's the last thing we need on top of a disaster like this.

May God bless your cousin and make him useful in this situation.

Well guys i just heard that the Salvation Army is taking volunteers. I'm fixing to head out the door to go to my local office to see if i can volunteer. Remember me and my friend as we go to the office to see if we can join.

Please remember my Uncle he is awaiting his call to go to New Orleans with FEMA. His bags are packed he's just waiting on the call. Please remember him in your prayers.

Well i got back awhile ago from the Salvation Army Office. I wasn't told about an age limit so I and my friend Chad filled out the registration form. I don't know if anything will come of it but if it does so be it. I'm ready and willing to help out in this time of dire need. If they need help here i'm up for it. If it's in Mississippi or New Orleans we'll be packing up and leaving. Please remember us in your prayers.

glad to here he is ok. We just got our power back on not 45 minutes ago. We had been without it for almost 5 days. But I aint complaining about that compared to those folks down in southern Mississippi, New Orleans, and Alabama we are really lucky. We have at our house 3 cousins from around Gulfport, MS area. They were starting up a church there. We are glad to have them on board and probably have them for a while, which is fine by me. We had from the winds a tree limb come and knock out some electrical wire so they had to come and take care of that. But they didn't have time to put wires back up. We also had 2 or 3 good sizes red oaks fall down but they were not by the house thankfully. Really is sad what is going on down there right now. Defenetly keep them in your prayers.

Y'all take care and god bless.
