I'm 12 years old. I have a 6.5 284 model 7 bolt action rifle with a scope.  My dad and I came up with some loads using Hornady 129 grain SP's and H4831.  They shot half inch groups at about 100yds. Last year we used 120 grain sierra SP's and H 4831 on my first deer. It knocked her off her feet. When I pulled the trigger her feet were the last thing I saw. So 120s are perfectly good for deer. So we  are going to 129s for hogs this year.

Welcome to graybeard, bountyhunter.  That's a nice sounding rifle you've got set up.  I'm a fan of 6.5mm/.264" cartridges myself.  That Hornady 129 grain bullet is a great choice for all-around hunting, and the Nosler 125 grain partition is great, too.  If you're shooting half inch groups with the Hornady bullets, though, you're already set.  Those will work for elk, too, if you place them well.  It sounds like you can do that, so you're set for hunting in the lower 48 states.

Good luck this hunting season, and let us know how you do.
