I'm considering another NEF for deer...
Is there any difference in quality/accuracy of the Ultra barrels over the handi barreels...?
Same manufacturer ? Same rifling grooves ?

The only difference between Ultras and Handis other than model specific features like barrel lengths is the stock and scope rail. Some folks have mentioned the finish on the ultra frame is nicer, but I think that has more to do with production quality differences than model differences.

Tim, you[ve had at least one if not two of these barrels rebored. Has the smith commented to you about the quality of the barrel steel itself?

Not specifically....he said they finished real nice if that means anything. Mac talked more technical lingo with him, maybe he can answer that question.

He said it was a good barrel...more than quality enough to rebore it with...nothing specificlly on the hardness...but next time I talk with him...I'll ask...
