Rebarreling the Savage bolt guns is so popular that Midway was(may still be) marketing a 'kit' with the tools and parts to do the job. The jam nut design of the Savage system makes the critical part of rebarreling, head spacing the barrel, a snap! The parts needed are fairly simple, the new barrel, a wrench for the barrel nut, an action wrench and the headspace guages for the cailber being converted to. The may also be parts needed for the action, such as magazine boxes and bolt heads. Since machine work is already completed this rebarrel is also cheaper than the average one..
