Need help on scope selection for 10/22

What is your favorite scope to mount on a Ruger 10/22? I would like to keep cost under $60.00. Do I need to only consider a "rimfire" scope only or are all scopes suitable? All comments are very much appreciated!

in my opinion any 3-9X32 or any 4-12X40 scope should do on a 10/22.

I would buy one of the Tasco or Simmons rimfire scopes. They are parallax corrected for 50 yds vs 100-150 yds for a center fire rifle.  I have a Simmons 3X9 on one of my 22s and found it works very well. I think I paid about $35 for it at Midway.  Any variable power scope with an AO adjustment will also work providing you buy mounts high enough for the front lens to clear the barrel.

I had an extra Tasco mil-dot scope laying around, and when I bought my 77/22 Varmint I put in on the .22 until I bought another scope for it. Never did. The mil-dot is perfect for a .22.

.22 ammo is as different as people's faces. One brand my shoot high, and another shoot low. After firing a few of shots you can figure out exactly were that brand is hitting. Instead of re-zeroing your scope you just use what ever dot is closest to POI. Also, use different dots for differnt ranges. I have mine dead on at 50 yards. At 25 yards I use the dot just above the crosshairs. At 75 to 100, the dot below. It gives you a good reference point when "holding over" your target.

I think I got mine for $69, but what ever brand scope you get, these are great for a .22.

Most inexpensive scope are CHEAP!  I like Leupold but they are not cheap.

So from my experience:

Simmons have always given me trouble - I'll not have another.

Try a BSA with an AO.  I've had 2 - One turn out very reliable and repeatable.

I put a Bushnell Trophy 1.75x4 with the Circle X reticle on my 10/22 and it's great. They run around $100.
