i really like this rolling block in 45/70 it weighs 11.68 lbs has a 30 inch barrel.i would fit a smith buckhorn type lader rear sight.  has any one shot one of this type.

dodd3, that's about like the one I bought this saturday. Mine has 30" half octagon and round barrel. Mine is the one in the earlier post with a tight bore. We've acutally got it shooting pretty well. If I were going to buy one again and be able to see it first I would take alone a lyman postell or lyman 457125 bullet and see if the bore riding section of the bullet will go in the muzzle end of the barrel. Other than the tight bore I really like the rifle. It seems to be very well made and the bore is beautiful, It looks like it's been polished with no tool marks at all. Today my son and I shot 2 five shot groups that measured 1 1/4 wide and 2 1/2 high and we've just begun to work up a load. I think you will like it. You will want to work on the trigger pull a bit , but that very easy to fix.
