Hi Al,

That link doesn't work for me. Is this a Mac attack or is the problem elsewhere?

Thanks,

Al,

I used to shoot at Tiadaghton in the 70s when I worked with Piper.
IIRC all that was there were 100/200/300 yd berms and a running target setup off to the east side of the place. Small clubhouse on the left as you entered.
Don't think I ever saw anyone else there except when there was a running deer shoot going on.
There were 2 guys shooting 760s in .222 who always seemed to win the running deer matches. (At least one was stocked in a maple laminate as I remember it. Maybe both were.)
Always had to keep an eye out for deer wandering out from behind the berms and across the range while you were shooting!
What's it look like now?

(Used to hunt over near Queen's run most of the time.)

Nomad,

That link worked. Thanks.

I've only been to Tiadaughton once for a Cowboy Lever Action Match but I like the location. Who doesn't enjoy Northern Lycoming and Tioga Counties? As for the deer, you won't find as many as in years past. Running shoots are a lot of fun and years ago I used to attend them all through the summer & fall. We too saw a lot of 760 Remingtons but most times it was the bolt guns that won. On the other hand, I always thought a 760 in 222-223 would be great for running deer but never found one.

There are still hard feelings about Piper. Were you with them at the end?

I was a ferry pilot doing the overseas stuff. Since I was checked out in everything they made, I also flew as a corporate pilot. When they began dumping everything off to FL, I moved my operation to Maine. (Bigger deer!)

I never exactly fit the corporate mold. I once told Max Bleck (we were dodging snow squalls over the hills and I had the feeling that he didn't like the weather and was unhappy with me anyway about my decision to fly it VFR...) that one of the reasons we had so much QC trouble with the Vero and Lakeland stuff was that the people working there were more interested in getting to the beach than in making quality aircraft. Since he was a moving force behind transferring more and more down to there, that put me well up on his list; but it wasn't his 'good' list!
(I may have been a little annoyed about the PA-31 crash that killed FX  also...)

IMO Piper was a great outfit before the 'outsiders' took over.

Hi,

Sweat dripping on my glasses, a fly in my ear and a slip of the finger and the center of the target was not found, will it ever be perfect.

The correct website address is:   www.lycoming.org/tsa

Have a good  day.

Al
