Savage, i will give you my first hand experience with RIA. I purchased 1 full size and 2 CSB(officers model).
The full size has not failed in anyway i have over 1000 rounds of everything imagineable down its tube. i purchased some of the 7.99 8round mags from cdnn and have mixed and matched different ammo in the mags and no failures. It shoots to poa for me. i can keep most shots in the head when i take my time at 25 yds.
My fullsize bites and i have read numerous reports of others that bite. I put a Kings beavertail grip saftey on it and no more bite. the King was a drop in part on mine it may not be on yours but proabaly it will drop in on most pistols.
Now, the CSB(officers model) I send them both back they had several issues. I recieved them both back about 1 month round trip door to door.
One had a slide that was out of tolerance, they had no RIA slide so replaced with ss Armscor slide, this pistol is now two tone, with the ss do dats that they gave me for my trouble it really looks cools, and it has not failed in any way since i got it back. i did the same magizine and ammo test with it as i did with the full size no failures. I do not shoot it as well as i do the fullsize but i keep it as hd pistol where i feel most shots will be close anyway. i now have around 600 round through this one.
The other CSB showed the same symptoms that i sent it back for so i called, they said send it back for repair or replace. By this time i had read a lot on different forums and came to the conclusion that the small 1911's made by any brand can be finicky. I ask to have the pistol replaced with a full size. They had no RIA's But had an armscor 1911a2 that they could replace with. the a2 had many little extras so i took it and ask for some ss do dads to dress it up with.
FYI:
RIA, Armscor, Charles Daly are all the same pistols just different names.
These guys bent over backwards to make me happy and stayed in touch with me. They do not as some others i have read about try to bs you, before they do any warranty work. the only thing they ask for me to do before i returned the pistols was to try and get 500 rounds through them before i sent them back. Seems some 1911's need a break in from what i have read.
Just curious how much are the RIA's selling for now days.
