cross block safety filler plug
« on: September 08, 2005, 05:19:17 AM »
Back when Winchester was making cross-block safetys, I remember reading an article about how CAS shooters would remove the safety and replace it with an aftermarket filler plug. The gun has a grip safety and rebounding hammer anyways, so I don't think this is too unsafe of a modification. Does anybody know where I could get one of these plugs. I'm sick of that butt ugly safety and always forgetting it on at the wrong moment, or bumping it on accidentally.

You might be mistaken. Theres a part that can be bought for Marlins to replace the saftey with a plug so to speak but I never heard of one for Winchesters. They made it harder than Marlin by dishing the hole the saftey sits in. That said I can be wrong.

After much more searching, I've found some for Marlins only. I think you might be right. Maybe this thread will kick up something though.
