i just got back from the range with my new buff barrel on my ultra frame
after 4 shots setting the scope using remington 405 jsp over 38.5 grains of imr3031 i put three shots in one hole at 50 yrds and i mean one hole
we thought i was missing the paper with the other two shots so we taped the first hole and shot another hole thru the tape then taped it again and did it again
so we moved out to 100 yards and shot one ragged hole that measured abt 3/4 inch with a tape measure so we then went to 150 and shot abt an inch and a half group.
then i switched to a 500 grain bullet and adjusted the scope up ten clicks and shot a one hole three shot group at 50 yards measuring abt 5/8 inch
and abt 1 1/2 inch at 100 yards. btw all these groups were centered on a three inch bull on an eight by eleven piece of bright pink poster paper
last but definately not least i tried the big 550 grained bullet over the same load of imr3031 as the others and it shot abt a 3/4 inch three shot group at 50 yards and was hitting abt an inch lower than the 405
and abt an inch and a half group at 100 yrds centered in the black
so far im am very pleased with this gun's performance.
man i love that big 45-70
:-D

Looks like those things defy the laws of physics, faster bullets shoot lower than slow ones, you should have had to adjust the scope down to make the heavy bullets hit the same place. You must have gotten a very special rifle. ;^) Larry

Good shootin Sureshot! Don't mind Larry, he's confused by your terminology, we know whatcha meant by moving the scope up 10 clicks which would move the reticle down, but move point of aim up to compensate for the heavier bullet.
