10/22 mags
« on: August 20, 2005, 01:32:00 PM »
this weekend i was at our hunting place in mississippi. i was shooting my 10/22 17 mach 2 conversion. it has always cycled great and still does. i think ive only had 2 jams and ive got about 750 rounds through it! but this weekend after about 150 rounds the bullets in the little rotary thing would catch on the side of the magazine and wouldnt rise up to the top to be loaded into the chamber. it would usually only happen on the 7th shot in the mag. and i would have to take the mag. out and smack it on the side hard to get the rotary with the bullet unstuck from the side of the clip and to come up to the top of the clip.it was not the guns fault at all because when it wouls happen the chamber would be closed and ready and when id pull the trigger, "Click". the bullet was stuck in the magazine and wasnt at the top to be loaded. is there any way i can clean the mags without taking them apart? last time i tried to take one apart and clean it i couldnt get it back together and had to throw it away. any suggestions appreciated!

Taking the mags apart isn't that big of a deal.

IIRC---there are directions how to reassemble them right in the owners manual-----i give mine a little extra wind up on the spring for more positive function.

Tighten the hex nut as tight as you can with your fingers, then tighten the through bolt tight. Now back off the through bolt about an 1/8 turn, if you watch the rotor carefuly you will see it move slightly. This has been the perfect setting for all of mine , as for cleaning your choice of solvents followed by compressed air!!!!

Ps do not lube after cleaning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
