Marlin made the model 62 lever action .30 M1 Carbine back in the 1960's.
It had limited popularity for the same reasons as the US M1 Carbine: light, handy, convenient, low recoil, readily available ammunition, fun to shoot.
It was bad and did not sell well for the same reasons as the US M1 Carbine: marginal power for deer-sized game (illegal in some states), too expensive for casual plinking, and very limited accuracy range.
It would be fun to own and shoot, I guess, but of limited practical use when other, more suitable chamberings are available.
