Core-Lokt® Pointed Soft Point-(PSPCL)

Anybody reload these bullets? I just ordered a bulk box to reload for .308, basically looks like it is a lot cheaper to load and shoot these than some of the others. Have been shooting the Hornady 150 grains, but I have gone through two boxes in the past week.

Let me know.....

I've used 165gr .308 bullets in 30-06 loads for years with good luck. I load only 100gr Core-Lokts in my .243 for deer. Core-Lokts give good accuracy and terminal ballistics for me.

I got some for the same reason you did, reasonable price. Am still working on load development so I can't comment until late next week when I can get out to the range for some field testing :grin: after having to postpone a bunch of range sessions due to work and other matters

Will try and report back on the results (I'm trying IMR 4350 since Win 748 did not give me satisfactory groups in my initial loads using it).

I would guess that there has been more game killed with a core lokt bullet than any other. Not pretty, not sleek, not tack driving accurate -altho it don't do bad. But its like the Cable Guy, it gets 'er done.

Excellent performer on game for the price and fair accuracy. I have heard nothing but praise for them. You can usually find them very nicely priced at gunshows in bags of 200.

I buy Core-Lokt bullets in .270, 7mm, and .30 caliber in bulk from the mail order houses and use them in various cartridges. I've had good success with them but I use them mostly for informal paper punching. They are a real price/performer. I'm planning a deer hunt for this fall and will use the 165 grain in my .280 pump.

I got me 500 of the 30 cal 165 gr PSPCL for my savage model 10fp-le
I am getting about 1/2" groups with them with out trying.

this rifle may do alot better with benchrest bullet but this should work for my needs

The .22's (45gr.) have given the best accuracy in my wildcat 22/30,and my 221 fireball, of any bullet tried. The .357/140 (yea not really what we were talking abt but) is the most accurate bullet tried in my 357 mag. Finally , the old .358/150 PSP. shot my personal best 100yd group ever (.375 c.t.c. yea it was awhile back when the ole bod was in better rig) with my .357 Herrett (10")... Still working on a load to best the matchking in my 6mm'06 then I'll be workin on the 308.... I like 'em even if they costed (is that a word???) more, which I am thankful they don't!!!! Marty

I use that bullet in 150gr and 180gr. in my .308Win. & 300WBY.
Good accuracy and great on deer size game (thats the largest game I've taken with them) and hell on yoties.

Buy them in 500-2000 lots much cheaper on the wallet.

I'm loading them in my 25/06 and have found them to be more accurate than some premium bullets. The cost factor helps a lot also.

I've been looking on the web to no avail, does anyone have any reload data for Core-Lokt's in .243 and .30-06? None of my reloading manuals mentions the Core-Lokts specifically and I don't know if it's safe to sub a core-lokt with another soft point of equal weight?

You can use any generic load info for the core lokt bullets. Of course, start low and work up.

Hate sounding like a dumby here, but I'm trying to be safe then sorry since I'm totally knew to reloading. I have the Hornady HandBook of Reloading, sixth edition; the Lyman 48th edition; the Modern Reloading, second edition.

Can someone that has one of these books give me a load the might be acceptable when substituting one of the Remington 100 Grain Core-Lokt Pointed Soft Point (CLPSP) tips ina both a .243 and .30-06?

Will a Soft Point (SP) formula work, starting on the low end of course?

I have several thousand in various calibers. They are the closest, in my opinion when working up loads for the Nosler Partition. I am not saying don't use them for hunting, they are superb. I am saying for $8.00 per hundred, they are excellent for working up the Nosler loads and don't cost $.30 a shot.

Go get 'em, they are a great deal.

OK, here it is, I do not know what a "generic load" is referring to. I was told to follow the aformentioned books to a "T" and they mention nothing about a "generic load" (at least that I can find). Is there anyway to give me an example of a "generic load" from any of the aformentioned books?

The Modern Reloading Book has loads for " Jacketed Bullet", "Barnes X Bullet", and "Lead Bullet". If I was to take the "Generic Load" advice I would select a load from the "Jacketed Bullet" section. How much trouble would that get me in to?

Shoots4fun,

That's what the other fellas are talking about with "generic" data. Just follow the section that says jacketed bullets, and you will be fine. When it talks about X bullets, they are alot longer than conventional lead core bullets, and take a different amount of powder, and the cor-lokt bullets aren't cast (i.e. lead), so you don't need to look under that section....jacketed bullets section is what you want. For 100gr. Remington PSPCLs in 243, I have had great accuracy recently with 41gr. of IMR 4350. Please work up carefully as this is safe in MY RIFLE. I don't consider this a hot load, but plenty accurate for me.

For 30-06 and 165gr. bullets, I run 55gr. of IMR 4350. This load is mild but accurate in my Remington pump. Deer don't have access to a chrony so I'm in good shape!
