Over Travel Stop on a NEF/H&R

I was thinking i would put an "Over Travel Stop" on my .308 and .17 to well stop over travel. I found an article about it on surplusrifle.com
http://www.surplusrifle.com/shooting2005/mosinscoutrifle/index.asp
about 3/4ths the way down the article, can't miss the right side pic of the trigger with a stop in place.

Go ahead and try it, then let us know how well it works!! FYI,  those rifles have no transfer bar to deal with, you'll probably find that it won't fire without a full pull of the trigger, but the stop can always be removed.

I did one like that on a handirifle several years ago, a hornet reamed to 218BEE.

After fiddling with it for about 2 hours one day I got rid of it..could not get consistent groups without "overtravel"...inherent in the design of the transfer bar system.

It might work OK if you converted the firing system to the older pre-transfer-bar system; I don't know if the parts are available or not you'd need at least the hammer and probably the trigger, there is a stop on the older trigger that is supposed to keep the hammer from going all the way foreward unless the trigger is pulled back.

In doing this conversion you would be removing an important safety feature of the design; OK I guess if you never sell the rifle or allow it to be used by anyone but yourself...

what bonds metal to metal best with out drilling and tapping. I was hoping just to bond a screw piece to the trigger guard but who knows.
