Waiting for the Fed's to approve my purchase
« on: September 13, 2005, 02:29:30 PM »
I am new to the forum (first post), and look forward to learning alot and having a good time with the group.

To start with.... a grip about my recent purchasing experiences.  About three years ago, I returned to the shooting sports    My youngest son has taken an interest and that was all the reason I needed to get back into a sport I enjoyed as a child.

I have purchased three guns in the last two years.  With each I have had to wait for the Fed's to approve my delayed purchase.  For the second gun (browning 22cal pistol) the government employee on the phone said I was denied.  Within 24hrs, they called back and said there was a mistake.

As a teenager (almost 20 yrs ago), I had a couple of run-ins with the law.  Three charges in fact:  1) disorderly conduct - tried to explain to a police officer that since I was a tax paying youth he in-fact was at my service (ha!) 2) indecent exposure (peeing on the beach about midnight) and resisting arrest when I ran.

I assume these are the reasons that I now require further investigation when making a purchase.  Saturday a gun I purchased from out-of-state arrived at the FFL dealer in town.  Of course he couldn't begin the paper work until the gun arrived.... which means I have taken delivery as far as the seller is concerned.  Now I am waiting on Uncle Sam to deem me fit to purchase.

Thinking about getting a concealed carry permit as the solution.....

thanks for listening!!!!!!!

Welcome to the forum!

You didn't say what parts ye hail from.

We can't cast stones at your oppressors if we don't know where they are, can we?

Well..., we could, but that would just be bitchin'.

The youthful offenses you mention don't seem to me to rise to the level of either a felony or federal crimes.

Maybe you share a name with some misbehaving social reject.

 :D
They may talk of a "New Order" in the  world, but what they have in mind is only a revival of the oldest and worst tyranny.   No liberty, no religion, no hope.   It is an unholy alliance of power and pelf to dominate and to enslave the human race.

I once failed that quick background check thing.  I've had 1 speeding ticked (for 6 mph over) and that's my entire criminal background.  Apparently after challenging it the first time I never have to deal with it again though.

A Concealed Carry Permit won't help a bit. I've had a permit for many years for each state I was in, I STILL get delayed.
On the 19th of April, 1775, a tyrannical government sent an army to disarm its citizens. They ran into a touch of trouble.

It is my understanding, based on a conversation with the gun shop I have done business with, that in SC a person with presenting a concealed weapon permit does not require the fed background check.  I thought I read it somewhere also, but after reading your post was not able to find it again..... still looking.
