best prices for reloading supplies
« on: June 05, 2005, 01:41:02 AM »
Ok I'm looking for better and cheaper supplies for reloading mostly brass, bullets, primers, and powder.  I have been using roze distribution for a while now.  I'm very happy with them but was wondering who else is out there. Roze is zero brand ammunition their best deal is the free shipping.  They will send samples of their brand projectiles if anyone is interested.

Any suggestions of other places

I buy everything I can locally, if it's not available here, it comes from Midway, Cabelas or Midsouth...not necessarily in that order, depends on their price, availability and how much shipping is...which can vary a lot.

Midway is overpriced, Midsouth has been getting most of my business lately followed up by natchez.

For powder and primers it's always local unless I just can't find something locally. Buying enough to overcome the hazardous materials charge is just not an option as far as powder and local ordinances are concerned.

With my C&R license, I get a deal from both Midway and Brownells.  Pretty nice.

I do still compare to other places and have on occasion beat their pricing.

Funny thing is... I've bought 1 gun with my C&R license.... and a whole lot of $$$ worth of shooting equipment and supplies at a cheaper rate just because I had that piece of paper.

Local Sportsmens Warehouse or Midsouth.....actually Cabelas has priced themselves right back inline and I buy from them too. Midway kills ya on the shipping.

How do you get a discount with a C&R license at Midway. I have one and wouldn't mind saving a few bucks.

I prefer to buy locally when I can, then use Midsouth for everything else.  They're a really good outfit.

Been buying all mine from Midsouth www.midsouthshooterssupply.com for over 20 years now. Might find someone who will be a price of theirs here and there if you pick and chose but across the board I've found no where a non FFL holder can buy stuff cheaper over all.

Call them up, tell them you have a C&R, and they will set you up as a dealer with dealer pricing.  The catch is, with a dealer account your minimum order goes from $25 to $40 or you get the penalty charge.

One of them may give you a break on one item but then they make it up on another.  And the free shipping ain't free.  I'm gonna guess that if you took a shopping list to the several major suppliers, the outcome would be within a couple of bucks of each other.  So you gotta go with service.  Same problem:  I've yet to have what I'd call bad service from any of the suppliers I've used.
If I'm ordering say one big ticket item (say Lapua brass) and several filler items, I go to whoever has the cheapest price on the brass.  If its several small "filler" items, I call whoever comes to mind first.
