Lite weight windage adjustable rings for the Anschutz 54MS

Who makes a good lite weight windage adjustabe ring for the Anschutz 54MS? My gun is not drliied and tapped so I need the ones for the grooved reciever. I have the BKL on now but I don't have enough up clicks. I only have 19 up clicks when sighted on the chickens, the scope is a 24 power leupold.  Can I put a shim in the back ring on the BKL rings I think I would need a .020 shim?

Joe lots of people have to shim the rear ring.   If you have 19 min of elevation after sighting on chickens you only need about 10 min to go to the rams.   Probably about four layers of a pop can will be enough to give you all the adjustment you need.    If possible the best place to shim is under the base rather than between the ring and scope tube.  IMO.  Don

Don, I only have 19 clicks up not 19 minutes and I don't know if you can shim under the base on the bkl rings as they just clamp in the grooves on the reciever my reciever is not drilled and tapped.  I was thinking that if I had  lite weight windage rings I could center the scope with the rings and that would give me more up clicks.

Windage adjustable rings are not going to help the problem you have. Windage adjustable rings do just what the name implys - adjust for windage, not elevation.

You can shim under the rear ring in order to gain more elevation, as the other poster suggested some shims made from a pop can will work just fine.  They will however place some stress on your scope so be sure to verify that your scope is tracking properly and not binding from the tube stress, it is unlikely that there will be enough stress from this small amount of adjustment to cause a problem but it can happen.

Another thing to do is check BKL's website, I believe that they either have or will make rings with a taper to them so you do not have to shim to get the elevation.

AJJ is right -- the sound you need to hear is 'Metalhead' Pearson saddling up to ride to the rescue.

BKLs, unfortunately, won't do anything for your windage problem; and the Burris insert/Signatures, unless they've changed them, aren't even close to describable as 'light weight'. (I milled mine to get their weight down and they're still hefty critters.)

If you are so out of alignment that your windage has actually affected your elevation travel (and if you're certain that it's not just your present mount system that's putting you there) you need more than a bandaid fix.

Get Marvin to solve your problem. He's not cute (I am known as a master of understatement!) but he has 'endearing' qualities! ;-)

BKL makes two different bases that have .007" drop that will solve your problem without having to shim your scope.  If you DO decide to shim, you should lap the rings and shims prior to scope mounting.  Or... like everyone else is saying... pay someone who has done this before.  Education in this area can get expensive.
