I would wait until the hunt is over...Especially if it is shooting real well as it is.

:agree: , I agree, it will not hurt to leave it like it is for a few days or even a week or 2 while you hunt with it, and if it's shooting great now don't mess with it. Good luck!!!....<><....

I have to agree with the above. As long as you don't change ammo for the hunt, you are in good shape.

Take the youngster out for the hunt, bag and tag the deer and THEN clean.

Enjoy your hunt with the youngster.

Wow...Look at you...That's a ton of firearms for a 16 year old...Good for you.  I'll have to use this example on my wife...She gives me a hard time about all the guns I own...I don't own that many yet and I'm 33...Getting close though.  Good luck on that youth hunt...

What are you shooting out of it and how dirty is the barrel? I don't see where cleaning it should change anything. If you are shooting rifled slugs out of it I would clean it for sure to get the lead fouling out of it. The more you shoot them the less accurate they become. I would want to start with a clean barrel. However I sight my guns in to shoot well with a clean barrel. I am only interested what that first shot out of a clean cold barrel will do.

If you are shooting sabots I doubt it is even that dirty. I would just run a patch or something down it to get any unburned powder out if there is any. Some shells shoot really clean, and others leave quite a bit of residue behind. I just don't like having that crud in my barrel. I have an old sock with a string tied to the end of it. I drag that down my barrel a few times and it usually gets all that stuff out after I shoot. Sort of like a cheap bore snake.

If you are worried about it though I don't think leaving it dirty will hurt anything. That is the beauty of saboted bullets. The barrels stay very clean for the most part.

MIdeerhunter, no offense intended but if you put your age in your profile it would eliminate some confusion.

Some folks actually read the profiles.

By the way, are you in the UP or LP?

Good luck this season.

I'm in the LP....I'm shooting Winchester BRI 2 3/4" sabots out of it, i just see a lot of crud, plastic buildup and what not behind, but i do have a boresnake and borebrush thing that is like the boresnake for just quick drop it through and pulling it when i don't have the time to get out the rod and scrub it....i dunno what i should do....im very finicky and keep everything super super clean and all of my guns are that way...i hate leaving them messy but i don't want to screw up my accuracy by doing it...please give me some help...

I don't think that leaving the residue in the barrel is going to lead to any problems.  I would not mess with it.  You are already shooting sabots so lead build up will not be an issue.  Leave well enough alone until after the hunt is over...Then clean it real well and shoot it again to see if the POI changes.  Keep It Simple...
