cannon/mortar classifieds??
« on: September 20, 2005, 03:21:30 AM »
Is there a classified section here that deals strictly with Cannons/Mortars and related stuff? When I go to the stickey classifieds that I can find all I see basically are rifles, hand guns and ammo??

In a word - no.

But that isn't to say that Graybeard himself wouldn't do one.

We need to suggest to him that a Cannon/mortar classified section would be usefull.

Perhaps later tonight - after I finish up on the roof and then when I get done renovating THIS computer.

So, if you don't hear from me immediately ....

I like the idea.  I am planning on building a couple of golf ball mortars to help finance my other projects.

That will make you a manufacturer and this would be a commercial venture. It would mean that like the rest of the folks who pay to advertise their wares on this site you too would be required to pay to advertise them here.

OK, so do we have potentially another sponsor?

Could there be a level of sponsorship for the individual that markets 2 or 3 a year?

I'm obviously not the rule maker here, just exploring alternatives.

The cheapest advertising option we've ever had on here for folks who are selling for profit things NOT held for personal use and just no longer wanted is a $100 per year package. At one time we allowed a $50 for six months option but it got to be too much hassle.

My classifieds are for members to sell items they have owned and held for some period of time for their personal use but which they no longer want. Any member I find who is selling "for profit" items that do not fit that category is no longer allowed to use the Classifieds. Business must pay to sell on here. That's what keeps the site running. If a person makes an item with the sole intent of selling it that's a business by anyone's definition. My promise to all paying advertisers is that I will not knowingly allow anyone else who is "in business" and "selling for profit" to advertise without paying. If I did then why would anyone want to pay to do so?

The advertising revenue is all that keeps this site up and running. Rest asssured if they weren't buying advertising and paying the operating expenses of the site there would be no site. I'm retired and on a fixed income that is not even remotely keeping up with the cost of living. No way the expenses would come from my personal pocket if we had no advertisers to cover it.

Graybeard has pretty much covered the commercial aspect.

I'll vote against a Cannon classified.  Real simply It is a a pain in the neck to moderate.  I moderated another board that has a classified  section. I spent so much time arbitrating.  People bickerd and argued.  No sir I want nothing to do with it.

I'm sure the folks who currently moderate the various classifieds on here would fully agree. I was about to shut them down completely when these folks volunteered to watch over them so I didn't have to.

I did not intend to go against the rules of the site.  This is a great sight.  I would, in the future, like to become a sponsor.  Not just from the stand point of being able to sell for profit but just to support the site.  The info I’ve got from the board alone is well worth it.

Once I get some extra money together you’ll here from me Graybeard.
